I am IC, aka Indunath Chaudhary, a finance sector professional having worked across various banking & non-banking domains i.e. lending, business development, credit appraisal, trade, commercial cards, cash management, supply chain management, structured trade etc. etc.

Born in a family of teachers, I completed school in Science and Mathematics from Shri Maheshwari Senior Secondary School at Jaipur, a city also known as the pink city. Thanks to globalization and growth of service/ manufacturing sector that gave a boost to demand of engineers in the country, my family could also decided a profession for me easily by then. So I joined University School of Chemical Technology (USCT), Guru Gobind Singh Indraprashtha University for a degree in Chemical Engineering at national capital Delhi. While some students get clarity in this stage, I was still confused as what to do next.

In the same confusion I did not opt for a job in hand but decided to pursue my post-graduation from Institute of Rural Management at Anand, a city also known as milk capital of India.

By the time I got some clarity on potential option I may have after PG, it was time for global recession ready to teach us its severe impact on economies, industries and the people. However there is a saying, everything happens for a good. At least concept of Mortgage Backed Securities (MBS) securities was very clear to me by then.

Thanks to having done good work during internships, I was selected by National Dairy Development Board during these difficult times and started working with them on grass root level. The role exposed me to concepts of communication strategies, quality, costing, supply chain, manpower management and engineering activities. 

After Dairy Board, I started working with ICICI Bank for sourcing deals and managing relationships of companies Food Processing, Agribusiness and MSME sector. I had always thought it’s easy to complete loan targets, why would anybody not take money. After rejection of first case by the Bank, I realized that giving loan to someone is the most difficult decision.

It was time to learn something new and thanks to RBI as it directed couple of foreign Banks to achieve priority sector lending targets. I joined Citi and while working with this Bank I was exposed to various products/processes at micro and macro level. Interaction with sourcing teams, credit/risk, product, accounting, regulatory agencies, financial institutions, large corporate and many more was a new routine which also changed soon. Time for strategy was over and it was time to get back to get the hands dirty again on ground. So I started working in the field of Trade Finance, Structured Trade Solutions, Cash Management products for Commercial Banking clients.

At present I manage product sales of commercial cards for the Bank.

My hobbies include buying new gadgets, singing, travelling and watching action movies. I do write a little bit on financial products, contemporary business and political issues whenever get time from other hobbies.
